Employment:

Vilnius University Library is a place where career paths of various people of different temper, characteristic, taste and professional interests meet. Here suits both, durable experience and youthful enthusiasm. More than 200 staff-members currently are working in the Library: service specialists, cataloguers, restorers, bibliographers, bookbinders, information managers, IT specialists, etc. Employees with various professional backgrounds here easily find a way to fulfill their own potential: librarians, historians, conservationists, philologists, journalists, archivists, communication, information, IT specialists. Vilnius University Library is proud of seven staff-members with doctorate and four other members who are in the process of getting it. Majority of the Library’s staff owns Master or Bachelor degrees.

In the beginning of the year 2013, Vilnius University Library opened the doors of a new building (Scholarly Communication and Information Centre), is carrying out the reconstruction work of old building, the number of readers-visitors is increasing, new e-services are being created, various international and national projects are being implemented. These and many other equally important tasks and projects dictates a high rate of work to the staff of the Library. Therefore, the input and help of each employee is very important.

Practice:

Every year a couple of motivated and diligent students have an opportunity to undergo their professional training for a particular job in Vilnius University Library. Trainees are welcomed in many various departments of the Library, thus to get professional knowledge is possible for different program students: librarians, historians, conservationists, philologists, journalists, archivists, communication, information, IT specialists.
