Part of the prints is on open access fund, such as the most used literature, encyclopedias, dictionaries, which are unavailable to take home.

The Library contain 90 study places, 6 of them are equipped with computers. Wi-Fi is available.

Mathematics and Informatics Faculty Library fund (66 000 pieces) concludes books, periodicals, MC, CD, DVD, VHS.

The fund is mostly set up with books and scientific journals about mathematics, informatics, physical sciences, economy, law, pedagogics, and publications in various languages in other scientific fields.

On the open access fund one can find circa 1600 books, mostly requested by the Library visitors.

The Faculty Library also keep the end of the 19th century–the beginning of 20th century old books’ and periodicals’ collection. It is from the two Mathematics-Physical Science Faculty Libraries: University of Stephen Báthory (1919–1939) and Lithuanian University in Kaunas (1922–1939).

Here also is preserved a book collection of ex-professor of Mathematics and Informatics Faculty Vytautas Paulauskas (1910–1991).

Medicine Faculty Reading Room

Medicine Reading Room is comprised from open stacks (open on working days from 8 AM to 8 PM) and closed stacks (open on working days from 8.30 AM to 5 PM).

The reading room is dedicated to individual student work: it has 32 workplaces, including 3 workplaces with computer access. The reading room contains only the mostnecessary and most read publications, issued only for reading at place.

Library stacks contain around sixty thousand pieces of books and journals, the majority of which are literature on biomedical sciences. Library stores and constantly updates works of clinical medicine, public health, nursing, dentistry, surgery, epidemiology, obstetrics and gynecology, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and other similar science topics.

In the Library are accrued the biggest collection of Scandinavian literature in Lithuania. Placed in Reading room and classrooms, the Library comprise circa 17 000 pieces of books, journals, also music and films.

The Library is constituted by:

  • a literary fiction in Danish, Icelandic, Norwegian, Swedish;
  • a Scandinavian literary fiction with translation to Lithuanian;
  • a studying material: textbooks, dictionaries, grammars, encyclopedias, etc.;
  • a scientific literature about linguistics, grammar, lexicology, stylistics, history of language, etc.;
  • periodicals;
  • works about history of literature, theories or criticism;
  • famous people (writers, artists) biographies;
  • art albums of fine arts, painting, architecture, design, photography, etc.;
  • works about Scandinavian countries social, political, economic, cultural aspects;
  • Scandinavian artists’ records of music and various movies.

The Library possesses 55 study places, 11 of them are equipped with computers, and 16 informal / leisure places. Wi-Fi is available.

VU Institute of International Relations and Political Science Library maintain political and other similar disciplines’ books or periodicals. The most relevant publications are accessible on open access fund in the Reading room. Other books are in the storage.

In 2006, February 1st, the Library was supplemented with big and precious gift – library – from the Open Lithuania Fund. This collection considered one of the best and most plentiful in our region. The Institute’s Library houses newest and by the global academic community commented social sciences or humanities books.
