French cartographer Jean Baptiste Nolin‘s (1686–1762) Mappe-Monde - a map of both terrestrial hemispheres including allegorical figures of four continents, and astronomical illustrations engraved on the margins of the map: discs of the Sun and the Moon, C. Ptolemaeus’s (II c.), T. Brahe‘s (1546–1601), M. Copernicus’s (1476–1543), R. Descartes´s (1596–1650) solar system models, schemes of solar and lunar eclipses. In the centre of the map – armillary – a circular model of terrestrial and celestial sphere.
