Copernicus, N. De revolutionibus orbium coelestium. Nürnberg, 1543.

First edition of the distinguished Polish astronomer, creator of heliocentric solar system Mikaloj Copernicus’s (1473–1543) treatise On the Revolutions of Celestial Spheres. The treatise substantiates the theory of heliocentric solar system. According to the prevailing theory at that time the Earth was the centre while the Sun and the universe revolved around it. M. Copernicus posited that the Earth and other planets revolve around the Sun.
