Polish astronomer, founder of Gdansk astronomy observatory, compiler of stars catalogue, who himself discovered 11 new constellations, initiator of investigation of the Moon surface, who marked a lot of craters, mountains and seas on the Moon Jan Heveliusz‘s (Ger. Johann Hevelius, 1611–1687) treatise Climacteric years, which among others contains illustrations of comets and the Moon surface, painted and engraved by the observer J. Heveliusz himself.
