Poczobut, M.Calculus eclipseos Lunaris... Vilnius, 1766.
One of best known in XVIII c. European astronomers, Vilnius University Rector, head of the observatory Martin Poczobut‘s (1728–1810) calculation of the lunar eclipse which took place on 24 February, 1766: Lunar eclipse observation calculations. During this observation M. Poczobut precisely enough calculated Vilnius University astronomy observatory coordinates: 54˚41´42´´ Northern latitude (according to the current data Vilnius city geographic position is: 54˚41´ Northern latitude and 25˚17´ Eastern longitude). For these observations M. Poczobut was awarded the name of Royal astronomer, while the University observatory became Royal observatory.
