Vilnius University Library constantly participates in various national and international projects as well as prepares and realises third-party financed projects initiated both by the University and the Library.
By participating in national projects and preparing projects itself, Vilnius University Library improves e-resources and e-services. These projects serve as basis for digitisation of cultural heritage objects, database subscription, development of Lithuanian academic library informational structure, and research data archiving activities, among others.
When realising infrastructure projects the physical premises are also modernised and expanded, with the aim of making it as accessible as possible for users with special needs.
Thanks to the funding from the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania, Lithuanian Council for Culture and Lithuanian Research Council, Vilnius University Library has the opportunity to initiate projects of documentary heritage research and cultural heritage popularisation. These projects envelop such fields as publishing, old document collection research, and science and cultural heritage dispersion.
