Braille's Room at the Life Sciences Reading Room is designated for visually impaired Library users. The laboratory is equipped with text converting software and a Braille printer. The workplace can be reserved online. More information: Assistive technologies.
The Braille room has a text recognition and reading device SARA CE, as well as a computer with a 40-box electronic Braille device with an integrated Braille keyboard Esys 40, a Braille printer Braille Ebosser Everest-D V4 with an acoustic cabinet, a scanner. The software installed on the computer in the laboratory:
• screen magnification software SuperNova Magnifier;
• e-book reading software EasyReader;
• software for converting files to various formats EasyConverter;
• Braille translator;
• screen readers JAWS 18 and NVDA (NonVisual Desktop Access);
• Lithuanian language synthesizer July;
• text to MP3 converter Balabolka;
• Microsoft Office 2003 with compatibility package;
• WintalkerVoice v. 1.6, transmitting all the information on the computer screen to the user in Lithuanian;
• Zyfuse, a device that heats up lines or other objects on paper to make them visible to the blind.
