Today, on 1 April, Vilnius University marks its 442nd anniversary. In effort to celebrate it in a special way, Vilnius University Library has prepared an impressive virtual tour. By taking the tour, you will not only see two Lithuanian documents of great value – catechisms prepared by Martynas Mažvydas and Mikalojus Daukša, but also will be able to stroll around one of the most spectacular spaces of the library – Joachim Lelewel Hall.
The hall of impressive décor, named after the distinguished professor of the university, reveals many intriguing stories about praying Jesuits, unexpectedly uncovered frescos and a curious object found in the bookcase. No curious visitor will be able to resist the rich collection of Joachim Lelewel that is presently kept in the hall.
