Today, on 1 April, Vilnius University marks its 442nd anniversary. In effort to celebrate it in a special way, Vilnius University Library has prepared an impressive virtual tour. By taking the tour, you will not only see two Lithuanian documents of great value – catechisms prepared by Martynas Mažvydas and Mikalojus Daukša, but also will be able to stroll around one of the most spectacular spaces of the library – Joachim Lelewel Hall.
The hall of impressive décor, named after the distinguished professor of the university, reveals many intriguing stories about praying Jesuits, unexpectedly uncovered frescos and a curious object found in the bookcase. No curious visitor will be able to resist the rich collection of Joachim Lelewel that is presently kept in the hall. Everyone is welcome to enter the virtual tour and find about these and other stories. Exciting discoveries are waiting for you!
