BBM portr copyAn exhibition dedicated to the 80th birth anniversary of Birutė Baltrušaitytė-Masionienė – a writer, translator, literary critic, and professor of Vilnius University.

In 1965 Birutė Baltrušaitytė started working at the Department of Russian Literature of Vilnius University. She delivered lectures to students of Russian and Lithuanian studies, journalists, and librarians. While working at Vilnius University, Birutė Baltrušaitytė-Masionienė carried out research of not only Russian, but also Ukrainian, Estonian and other literatures and their connections, as well as published books Dabartinės estų prozos bruožai (Features of Contemporary Estonian prose, 1977), Levas Tolstojus ir Lietuva (Leo Tolstoy and Lithuania, 1978), Literatūrinių ryšių pėdsakais (In the Footsteps of Literary Connections, 1982), Iš Kalevo šalies: Estų literatūros puslapiai (From the Kalev Country: Pages of the Estonian Literature, 1990), Su savąja tauta: Pabaltijo ir Rytinių slavų tautų literatūra (With the Nation of Our Own: Literature of the Baltic and East Slavic Nations, 1994), Baltijos tautos: Kultūros istorijos metmenys (The Baltic Nations: An Essay on the History of Culture, 1996). After learning Estonian, Ukrainian, Czech and Slovak languages, she translated many articles including those on literary criticism alongside with some poetry and prose, which she translated from the Belarussian, Estonian, Russian, and Ukrainian languages.

The exhibition takes place in the Small Exposition XXI–XXII (Universiteto st. 3, the 3rd floor) until August 31, 2021.
