Since the beginning of 2024, Vilnius University has started to subscribe the analytical tool SciVal which uses Scopus database. With the help of this tool, it is possible to overview, analyze, and visualize various metrics of scientific production. We invite the VU community to join the organized SciVal trainings:
February 8th, Thursday, 10 am (Vilnius time), SciVal Fundamentals. Registration.
The training will focus on the main interface features, entities, and metrics available in SciVal, an analytical solution around the Scopus reference database and other data sources, such as patent information, mass-media monitoring, biggest research funders etc. Participants will be introduced to the structure of SciVal and learn about its data entities, modules, subject classifications, and metrics. They will have an opportunity to learn about the most common SciVal use cases, such as portfolio analysis for a researcher and an institution; potential co-author and subject area expert search; journal benchmarking; collaboration analysis, and more. They will also discover SciVal’s capabilities for joint projects and how it can enhance their usual search for information in Scopus. The webinar will be useful for beginners as well as experienced users of SciVal.
February 15th, Thursday, 11 am (Vilnius time), Advanced SciVal. Registration.
The training aims to help users with some knowledge of SciVal to delve into its advanced features and use scenarios. Participants will gain insights into the calculations behind commonly used metrics and learn strategic approaches to design meaningful analytical projects. This session addresses tasks specifically relevant to administrative staff, including the analysis of researcher groups, the creation of structures for multiple groups, reporting, and collaborative efforts within SciVal. Participants will uncover the limitless flexibility of advanced Scopus searches and how they seamlessly integrate into your analytical tasks within SciVal. Tailored for administrative staff members, academic unit managers, and librarians, this training promises to enhance your expertise in harnessing the full potential of SciVal.
Both webinars will be held via Elsevier platform using Zoom, you will receive the link by e-mail after registration. The planned duration of each webinar is 1 hour and it will be held in English. Training sessions would be conducted by Elsevier representative and CEE region Customer Success Manager Kirill Ivanov.
