Since 2014 Clarivate Analytics has been annually announcing a list of highly cited researchers worldwide that received the most attention. The list is based on citation activity, primarily focusing on publications that rank in the top 1% by citations for their field. In total, the list includes 6,886 researchers from 59 countries, and in terms of global trends, the largest share of the most cited researchers comes from the U.S.A. (36.4%), followed by China (20.4%) and the UK (8.2%). However, as many as 85.4% of the researchers on the list come from 10 countries.
Two researchers from Lithuania, both from Vilnius University, made it to the list of highly cited researchers, and this is not the first time they have appeared there. They are Dr Linas Mažutis, a professor at the Life Sciences Centre, and Dr Linda Hollebeek, a senior researcher at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration.
