VU Library is proud to mark the 10th anniversary of the National Open Access Research Data Archive (MIDAS), which was launched in June 2015.
MIDAS is an information system created for research data from all fields of academic research. It offers a safe environment for data storage, opportunities for collaborative management of datasets, as well as the ability to publish data or find datasets published by others. Research data published by MIDAS are described with standardised metadata, the conditions for their reuse are specified, and they can be assigned a DOI. All these measures contribute to the datasets’ compliance with the FAIR principles, which are endorsed by Vilnius University and considered mandatory by a number of research funding organisations.
MIDAS is included in repository catalogues OpenDOAR and re3data, and it is listed in the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) catalogue of data sources. Open-access datasets published in MIDAS are automatically registered in eLABa and can be discovered through the international research data search engine B2Find.
This year, after Vilnius University, the managing institution of MIDAS, became an observing member of the EOSC Association, MIDAS is also represented in this association of great importance to European research data management infrastructures.
MIDAS administrators would like to thank Vilnius University for its 10-year support and all MIDAS users for their trust and cooperation in implementing Open Science and FAIR principles.
If you have any questions related to storing or publishing data in MIDAS, or the re-use of data published in the MIDAS portal, please contact Dr. Gintė Medzvieckaitė, Research Data Officer of the Scientific Information and Data Division of VU Library.
