Conference venue: The Scholarly Communication and Information Centre of Vilnius University Library (Saulėtekio av. 5, Vilnius). There is an option to participate remotely.

Conference language: English.

This October, Vilnius University will host an international conference on open science, bringing together researchers, representatives of non-governmental organisations, library professionals, students, and anyone interested in learning more about and sharing experiences on open science. Open science is a movement that advocates for the accessibility and reusability of scientific knowledge. It promotes collaboration and information sharing among scientists, makes knowledge accessible to all, fosters interdisciplinary collaboration, increases the impact of science on society, and builds a more transparent and inclusive culture of science.

The international conference "Open Science Today and Tomorrow" will invite participants to discuss the development, challenges, and opportunities of open science. The conference will aim to:

-        Create a space for international dialogue;

-        Share good practices;

-        Inspire strategic action planning;

-        Strengthen the culture of open science at the national and international level.

We invite researchers, academics, research librarians, data experts, policy makers, and other interested specialists to submit papers to the conference on the following open science topics:

- Open access: recent developments and challenges;

- FAIR principles and their implementation in practice;

- Scientific research data management: strategies and tools;

- Open science evaluation: methods and perspectives;

- Citizen science and public involvement in research;

- The role of digital technologies in promoting collaboration and transparency in science;

- Open science policy: national and international initiatives.

Papers may focus on sharing experiences, presenting research outcomes, or innovative ideas and initiatives.

- Paper title.

- Abstract (1,000 characters).

- Brief biography of the speaker (about 500 characters).

Notifying speakers about the selected proposals: by 30 September 2025.

Papers are submitted by filling in a paper submission form.

The conference programme and the registration form will be published at least 2 weeks before the event.
