Embassy of Ireland in Lithuania, Vilnius University Library and Marsh's Library in Dublin present the exhibition “Sole Survivors:  the Rarest Books in the World".

 

image.pngThe exhibition of photographs will present rare and unique copies of books kept at Marsh's Library founded in 1707 in Dublin. Around 20,000 printed items make the original founding collection of the library, 387 of which are unique documents that have the only – Marsh Library’s– copy.

During the opening of the exhibition you will get an exciting opportunity to see four unique copies which were transported from Marsh‘s Library itself. Some rare items from the holdings of Vilnius University Library – books that were once bequeathed to the library of Vilnius Jesuit College – will also be on display in the exhibition. 

 

The opening event will be held on 2nd April at 5 p.m. in the White Hall of Vilnius University Library (Universiteto str. 3, 3rd floor). Please note that the event will be held in English language.
The exhibition will be on view in the White Hall of Vilnius University Library until 24th April 2019.
