While celebrating 440th anniversary of Vilnius University, Vilnius University Library has arranged an exhibition featuring the participation of the University’s professors and researchers in European academies of science and scholarly societies.
The exhibition shows honorary diplomas awarded to professors Joachim Lelewel (1786–1861), Jędrzej Śniadecki (1763–1838), Adam Ferdynand Adamowicz (1802–1881). Major part of diplomas kept at Vilnius University Library has both historical and artistic value. They are adorned with works created by leading European artists such as Louis Lafitte (1770–1828), Jean Jacques François Le Barbier (1738–1826), Leonardo Frati (1710–1792) and others.
The exhibition will be on display from 29 April to 28 June in the corridor of the Director’s Office (Universiteto g. 3, 3rd floor).
