The year 2019 has been announced the year of Juozas Tumas–Vaižgantas. This exhibition is dedicated to mark 150th birth anniversary of Juozas Tumas–Vaižgantas.

VaizgantasThe exhibition shows Vaižgantas research documents, letters to literary critics and writers Adomas Jakštas-Dambrauskas, Julijonas Lindė-Dobilas, members of the Klimai family, his notebooks, manuscript copies of his works “Vaizdų rinkinys” (Selection of Imagery) and “Jaunam veikėjui” (To the Young Activist), Juozas Tumas–Vaižgantas books “Vaizdeliai” (Scenes), “Pragiedruliai” (Cloud Clearing), “Ten gera, kur mūsų nėra arba neapleiskime Tėvynės!” (The Grass is Always Greener on the Other Side or Do not Forsake your Homeland), “Tiesiant kelią Lietuvos Nepriklausomybei, 1916–1917” (While Building the Road for the Lithuanian Independence, 1916–1917), “Lietuvių draudžiamojo laiko literatūros paskaitos „Apžvalga“ ir apžvalgininkai” (Lectures on Lithuanian Literature During the Era of the Lithuanian Press Ban: “Apžvalga” and its Workers), bibliography of his articles written by Vaižgantas hand himself, his appointments as a vicar to Mosėdžiai and Kuliai churches by the Bishop of Telšiai. Some other documents featuring Vaižgantas work at Vytautas Magnus Church and the University of Lithuania can be seen on display. Rich iconographic material as well as Vaižgantas awards–Honorary Doctor Diploma of the University of Lithuania and the Order of the Lithuanian Grand Duke Gediminas (2nd degree)– are also presented at the exhibition.

The exhibition is arranged based on Juozas Tumas–Vaižgantas archive, part of which is kept at Vilnius University Library.

The exhibition will be on display until 7 September at the White Hall of Vilnius University Library (Universiteto str. 3).
