Citizen science comes in many different forms of activity, from public participation in collecting research data to projects initiated and led by communities themselves. In this lecture, Professor Alan Irwin will explore the diversity of citizen science and address questions that matter today for both academia and the wider public. What connects such different citizen science initiatives? Which citizen science trends are emerging in Europe? And, finally, what can we expect from citizen science in the future?
