Contacts: , (+370 5) 219 5051.
You can consult with a librarian working at the Information Desk about the issues related to the Library services.
Librarians are not available in the reading rooms the entire time – they only spend some part of their working hours in the reading rooms. At other times you can use self-service facilities.
Rules for using reading rooms
- Users that use the services in Vilnius University Library have to be familiarized with General Rules Concerning the Use of Services Provided by Vilnius University Library.
- Areas for discussions and phone calls. We ask our users to observe silence in the reading rooms – make as little noise as possible and avoid having phone conversations. If you see users that disregard this rule, please ask them to be more understanding. If they fail to comply, address the information desk. Areas where speaking is allowed include the cafeteria, lounge room, lobbies and rooms for group work.
- Food. Coffee, tea, non-alcoholic beverages as well as light snacks are allowed in the reading rooms (except special collection reading rooms). However, it is forbidden to take full meals that require cutlery and might stain or ruin furniture, equipment or other property. If your eating will disturb other users, we reserve the right to ask you to do so in designated areas – cafeteria or lounge room.
- Safety. Please don't leave your personal belongings unattended. The library will not be held responsible for lost items.
- Outerwear and bags. Please leave your overcoats, raincoats and other kinds of outdoor clothing as well as bags, cases and similar personal belongings in the cloakroom or the lockers. Don't leave your outerwear and bags in other workspaces – when kept on chairs, tables and other places not designed for this, your things prevent other users from accessing bookshelves or using the free workspace.
- Lighting. Please conserve power – switch off the table-lamp or floor-lamp after finishing your work. The library tries to participate in energy-conserving initiatives, so during night-time (starting at 22:00) all reading rooms that are open 24/7 will be left with minimum (local) workspace lighting (with consideration to the number of users and with their consent).
- Order. After taking a book out of the shelf, please put it into the nearby trolley.
After finishing with your work, leave your workplace clean and tidy. Return the chairs, chaise-longues and other furniture back to their respective positions so they wouldn't inconvenience other users. Furniture in the library are placed in a way that would ensure safety of all users, allow less-abled, disabled and wheelchair-bound users to move freely, as well as keep the access to bookshelves unobstructed.
The library staff is responsible for keeping order in the reading rooms, so please hear out their remarks and suggestions. Users that refuse to follow order will have their privileges restricted for some period of time.
- Lost and found. If you have lost or found something in the library, please contact employees at the Information desk.
- User ID card. The staff of the library has the right to ask the user to provide their user ID card to make sure they have the right to use the provided services.
