The National Open Access Research Data Archive (MIDAS) is a digital platform managed by Vilnius University for storing, managing, publishing and discovering research data. MIDAS is open to researchers from any institution or discipline. All MIDAS services are provided free of charge.
The benefits offered by MIDAS:
MIDAS was developed in 2012–2015 by Vilnius University and its partner Vilnius University Hospital Santaros Klinikos. The project was funded from the European Union Structural Funds. The archive is registered in the Lithuanian State Information Systems Register.
Main components of MIDAS:
- MIDAS portal – a public space hosting published research data and their metadata accessible for both authenticated users and guests;
- MIDAS user environment – a space dedicated to registered MIDAS users where they can store research data and collaborate on it. One can register for a MIDAS account by clicking on the “Register” button and confirming their identity through the Lithuanian E-Government Gateway or initiate registration by invitation through an existing MIDAS user;
- MIDAS Biomedicine managed by Vilnius University Hospital Santaros Klinikos. The biomedical sub-system is designed for collecting clinical data. Personal data protection is ensured through the implementation of the inbuilt anonymisation tool;
- Data Analysis Tool (DAMIS) for processing and visualising large amounts of data.
Further information regarding MIDAS can be found in the MIDAS portal sections "About MIDAS", "Frequently Asked Questions" and "Terms of Use". Instructions for using the archive can be found in the MIDAS User Guide.
