Vilnius University Affiliation Guidelines approved by the Rector's order of 19 December 2024 came into force on 1 January 2025. This document is intended for researchers, teaching staff, and students. However, it is particularly significant for those publishing their research.
The number and quality of publications by the University's scientists and researchers significantly impact the visibility of the University's scientific activities and achievements. To ensure proper recording and attribution of research outcomes, publications must correctly reference the institution's affiliation, following the structure defined in the guidelines. This is particularly important for bibliometric analyses, evaluation of research outputs, university rankings, international cooperation, and monitoring of researchers' careers.
The guidelines set out general principles for the use of affiliation in order to:
- ensure the attribution of research to Vilnius University;
- increase the visibility of publications;
- improve the dissemination of scientific outcomes;
- facilitate the identification of authors and their works in databases such as Web of Science and Scopus.
When referring to the affiliation, the official titles of Vilnius University and its units should be used in Lithuanian or English following the format specified in the guidelines.
The Guidelines are available through Vilnius University intranet in the section “Library Information”. We kindly encourage you to follow the established procedures for using the affiliation and thus contribute to the visibility of the University's research activities.
