According to the Research Council of Lithuania’s (RCL) Guidelines on Open Access to Research Publications and Data that entered into force in 2016, research projects which will generate research data are required to submit a data management plan (DMP).
A useful resource for implementers of RCL-funded projects looking for easier and faster ways to prepare their data management plans has been the online tool DVP Vedlys developed by the Vilnius University Library. The tool helps to generate data management plans by guiding the user through a list of questions and using the answers as the basis for the DMP document. The questions are taken from RCL’s Outline of data management plan (DMP) and are supplemented with explanatory notes and practical examples. The tool does not require installation and can be used online (Vilnius University SSO sign-on required). The Lithuanian version of this convenient tool has been available to the University’s academic community since 2018. At the request of users, its English version – DMP Wizard – was launched in September 2019. This will ensure that, from now on, data management plans submitted to RCL in English can be prepared easier and faster, as well.
