EODOPEN – eBooks-On-Demand-Network Opening Publications for European Netizens
Open up hidden knowledge!
THE GIST OF THE PROJECT
It is a five-year project uniting 15 European libraries and aiming at digitising and opening up 15 thousand documents and literary creations from the 20th and 21st century for European Netizens. Libraries all over Europe have been dealing with some difficulties related to copyright clearance and other issues, so as to open in digital format textual materials of the 20th and 21st century for the general public. These works are slumbering deep in library stacks and thus are not easily accessible for the public or can be acquired in some other way as often they are out-of-print.
During the EODOPEN project 15 libraries from 11 countries will focus on presenting to the public inaccessible materials in digital format and thus making them available throughout Europe at the same time fully respecting the current copyright regime and adhering to the current law.
DIGITISED AND OPENED UP PUBLICATIONS AT HAND
By participating in the project, VU Library aims at digitising 200-250 publications and documents per year. Digitised and opened up for public use documents are available on the website of VU Library’s Digital Collections, in a special EODopen Collection.
